And when that happens UAC will be just another anoying useless feature of Vista….

November 19, 2006

You’d think that after the buzz the PS3 has been getting lately, Sony would be a little more confident in itself. Analysts are predicting major victory for the PS3 and it even got a (pseudo) political endorsement. Yuichi Ejiri, general manager of sales and marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong, wasn’t completely ecstatic about his product.

Pain in ass

November 15, 2006

Now, i understood why someone termed someother ” pain in ass”. Because, pain in ass is prevalent everywhere. Someone if doesn’t return your money, h/she is real pain in ass. If someone doesn’t pay gratitude for what  you’ve done, that’s too ‘pain in ass’. If someone is taking you for granted, that’s even more ‘pain in ass’. When creditors follow you everywhere for their money, but who know my own broke-out days, that’s too damn ‘pain in ass’.

Increase hotmail size from 2 MB to 25 MB without a penny

November 5, 2006

———————————–
Notice
———————————–
I read in some IT magazines that hotmail has changed it’s space to not-so-large extent which is free indeed. It was just to keep pace with the gmail race. The rediffmail followed the same suit, yahoo also increased it’s size. Then hotmail also changed its suite but nobody knew how to do that for free. It has increased it’s size just to mere 25MB for free ,later 250 MB and 2GB finally.
I just tried it. It works. No mails get deleted.
—————————————————-
By the way, there is no need to be happy, since there are already free email service provider which provide around 1 gb space. But it would help you from deleting mails on and on to synchronize with the space.

Unattended Installation of Windows 98

November 5, 2006

i don’t know if you got that utility from the original source of Windows 98 Setup disk or not, but anyway, there are msbatch.exe files for other version of windows too.

so, here are few of the clear steps ( i usually consider “steps” to be shown which is good instead of boring paragraph):

1. first of all, copy the \win98 setup folder from the CD to your harddrive ( say for ex. C:\win98)

2) second, as you’ve passed the half way. .i mean creating that batch file. Copy that batch file with .inf extension to that directory where you’ve just copied the win98 setup files

Spyware/Adware myths

November 5, 2006

•What is Spyware/Adware?
Spyware and Adware are not the self-generated names for the yet another malicious programs. They are given the names because of their behaviours. As a user, in this expensive world of softwares, I’d be readily happy if I get some useful programs for free. I would not even let the space be there thinking why this fabulous program is free but just use it for own sake. Doing so, we never knew, those good-looking-evil have been contaminated by some extra spying tools too which we were not aware of. We still never cared since there was no direct loss of data or destruction of important files. Though, we wondered how come those pop-ups come in the middle of msn-chatting or while surfing net. We even wondered why there is slow-down in connection and pathetically we blamed our internet service provider(ISP) or our own landline conditions. We never hot chance to wonder when our surfing habits were being monitored. Moreover, we were unable to figure out when our own personal informations were compromised and stolen. So, this disguised form of harmful programs is nothing more than spywares. At last, spywares are very swift little programs which steals the personal informations.

November 5, 2006

This is a true story from the WordPerfect helpline. Needless to say, the help desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the Word Perfect organization for “Termination without Cause.”

Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee with a caller:

Customer Support: “Ridge Hall computer assistant; may I help you?”

Caller: “Yes, well, I’m having trouble with WordPerfect.”

CS: “What sort of trouble?”

C: “Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away.”

CS: “Went away?”

C: “They disappeared.”

CS: “Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?”

C: “Nothing.”

CS: “Nothing?”

C: “It’s blank; it won’t accept anything when I type.”

CS: “Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?”
