If you are afraid of installing codec pack which you think would interfere with system files, i think you should opt for a pretty application called ‘VLC player’ with lots of independent codecs. With that said, it alone handles the media files.

VLC media player is indeed great ……… it palys almost all file format …………. there is also a mini version of the player for mobile phones ….. it is one of the open source software whichi has the ability to beat its popritey competitiors …………….. but the littel setback is its interface which is not much attractive but i think there are themes are avilable for that ………
K-Lite codec is also kool ………. when i used wmp need to play some quick time movies and i came across this codec ……….. in fact a gr8 codec with much funcitionality and easy to use
VLC media player is devil in disguise. It’s so powerful tool that i almost can play all media files,DVDs,audio CDs, with this lil nifty programs.. If you dig what’s inside this program, you’ll be so amazed. i used this to play every media files on my PC.. particularly watching video is fun with this.
K-Lite codec pack is all in one codecs installation file. it’s indeed very helpful for old computers(as well as new computer too) where by default no codecs are installed.
